Tri Nations 2011 Betting: Can anyone stop the All Blacks?

“The Boks and the Aussies come face to face in the tournament opener on Saturday July 23.”

New Zealand, Australia and South Africa are about to face off in the southern hemisphere’s premier rugby tournament. Have the markets got it right or can the Wallabies and the Boks spring a surprise?

The All Blacks will be depserate to go into the World Cup with a successful Tri-Nations campaign under their belts. Betfair customers clearly expect them to do so but could Australia [3.2] or even world champions South Africa [11.0] cause an upset?

Spring Boks coach Peter de Villiers certainly thinks so. He’s setting his sights on re-establishing his side as the number one force in world rugby despite the slew of injuries to key players which sees him fielding what many regard as a second string this July and August.

As for the Wallabies, they’ve been hit by injury problems of their own. However, Robbie Deans believes that the scrum – a problem area in recent years, most notably against England last autumn – will be stronger than it has been at any time in his tenure.

The Boks and the Aussies come face to face in the tournament opener on Saturday July 23 in Sydney. The hosts are firm favourites at [1.2] with the de Villiers’ fledgling side a [4.0].
