X Factor Final Betting Preview
Tonight is the night, the TV event of the year, after months of bickering judges, emotionally overblown back-stories, contestants late night partying and the occasional song, The X Factor final is here!
This year’s final is one of the closest in the history of the show and for the first time will be held at Wembley Arena. In year’s gone by the final has been somewhat of an anti-climax with one act head and shoulders above the rest come the final. Not this year though, as girl group Little Mix go up against Liverpudlian hairdresser Marcus Collins and the comeback queen Amelia Lily.
Little Mix (EVS to win the X Factor) can make history by becoming the first group to win the competition as they blow the so called “curse” of the girl bands out of the water. The girls were outsiders when the competition began but steady improvement each week and the all important likeability factor has seen their popularity sky rocket.
Reports are they’ll be singing Candi Staton’s “You Got the Love” which had a renaissance last year thanks to Florence and the Machine, a great choice in our books. They’ll also duet with mentor Tulisa singing an Alicia Keys medley. It will be tough to match Alicia Keys’s vocals but the final is all about stepping up your game so who knows.
Marcus Collins (2/1 to win the X Factor) was another dark horse in the competition. His performances have been entertaining and his vocals impressive. The popularity of his mentor Gary Barlow may also have something to do with his success. Marcus and Gary will perform a duet of Billy Joel’s “Always a woman” in what has the potential to be a very memorable performance. Remember a few years ago when Beyonce appeared with Alexandra Burke? It arguably won her the show and we can see something similar happening tonight.
Amelia Lily (5/2 to win the X Factor) is the slight outsider for the final but she’s still in with a shout. Her chances may have been damaged by her alleged poor relationship with mentor Kelly Rowland. Stories in the press of Kelly having little to do with Amelia and suggesting she doesn’t care if Amelia wins will have no doubt affected her preparation. There’s no doubt she has a brilliant voice but will other factors end her X factor dream.
