Beaubois debut sparks Mavs to 12th win in 13 games

Eleven months after Dallas’ Roddy Beaubois scored 40 points and drained a rookie record nine three-pointers in a game against Golden State, it’s once again time to refuel the hype.

Beaubois, who broke his left foot during offseason workouts, made his season debut with the Mavericks on Wednesday. To say it did not disappoint would be an understatement. The 22-year-old Guadeloupe native put on some dazzling moves and finished with 13 points and six assists in 22 minutes as Dallas blasted the visiting Sacramento Kings 116-100.

“I think one of the things that is so intriguing about this guy is that you don’t know what to expect,” Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle said afterward. “He could jump in there and do some great things. He’s certainly capable of that.”

“I have to find my rhythm,” Beaubois cautioned. “I turned the ball over a couple of times. It’s normal when it’s been a long time. I need to find my rhythm back, for sure.”

“Now the test is to bounce back tomorrow but build on it and have an even better performance,” added teammate Jason Kidd.

If Beaubois finds his so-called rhythm and has an even better performance at Phoenix on Thursday, the Suns could be in trouble. Dallas is already darn tough to begin with, having won 12 of its last 13 games.
