Gordon ends cold streak, claims victory in Phoenix

Jeff Gordon ended a 66-race winless streak by claiming the crash-filled NASCAR Subway Fresh Fit 500 on Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway.

Gordon made a pass on leader Kyle Busch with eight laps remaining and held on for the win. He led 138 laps on Sunday to move into a tie with Cale Yarborough for fifth all-time in career Cup wins at 83.

The victory was his first since April 2009, the longest winless streak of his career.

Busch finished second, just missing out on bing the first driver to sweep all three races at the same venue since 2003. He was followed by Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Ryan Newman.

Trevor Bayne, who won the Daytona 500 last week, finished in 40th place after his day ended on lap 50. Bayne clipped Travis Kvapil and suffered heavy rear end damage.
