Despite back problems, Mickelson says his health is good

With the Masters so close to teeing off, and with thousands of fans purchasing tickets just to get a chance of seeing the main US hope Phil Mickelson in action as he seeks to win his fourth green jacket, the favourite for the competition has been forced to announce that he is not suffering from any fresh injury concerns coming into the competition after it became widely known that Mickelson had taken some time away from the course at Augusta to visit a medical specialist. This may concern anyone looking at the golf betting.

Although Mickelson admitted that he has visited the specialist, he has also been quick to point out that this was only to make sure that his back is ready for the rigours that the 7,400-plus yard layout course entails for players backs. With Mickelson well aware that his approach play will be key in determining whether or not he stands a chance of winning the competition, he has reverted to a tactic he used back in 2006: carrying two drivers in his bag. Should Mickelson prove that his body can handle the pressure that the course brings, his fans will know that his short game and form are likely to show the rest of the players precisely how best to play the famously unforgiving Augusta course.

Despite this, the sad fact remains that his back could indeed be his downfall, leaving him unable to tee off effectively and forcing him to pull off dodgy putting shots that even Phil might not be able to make. If this happens, we might not only just be witnessing Mickelson lose out on the chance to get back to the top of the golfing world, but also the start of the end of his career.
