Sports Betting Online – Toms and Poulter Get Wins
Sports betting online gamblers who bet on David Toms and Ian Poulter over the weekend were winners as Toms won the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial while Poulter won the World Match Play Championship.
It was quite a weekend of golf for both players and they rewarded gamblers who took them as neither one was favored in sports betting odds.
Toms Wins at Colonial Just a week after losing in a playoff to K.J. Choi, it was David Toms coming right back and winning at Colonial. Toms had a brilliant opening two days with consecutive 62’s but blew up on Saturday to a 74 that let everyone back into the tournament. Toms actually went into Sunday trailing Charlie Wi by one shot. Toms was able to put together a solid 67 on Sunday though to win by one shot over Wi. It had been more than five years since Toms won a tournament but he is still knows how to play in the clutch as he won his 13th career tournament. Wi finished in second for the fourth time in his career and still does not have a tournament win. Sports betting online numbers indicate that Toms is the first player on tour to win since 2000 after losing in a playoff the previous week. Bo Van Pelt finished in third while defending champ Zach Johnson was fourth.
Eagle at 15 the Difference The biggest shot of the weekend for Toms came on the par-5 11th hole as he eagled it with a wedge shot from 83 yards. That shot from Toms bounced once, landed just behind the hole and then rolled back in for the eagle.
Poulter Defeats Donald In the final of the World Match Play Championship it was Ian Poulter defeating Luke Donald, 2 and 1 to win the title. Donald is ranked #2 in the world and would have taken over the top spot from Lee Westwood if he had been able to get the win. Poulter trailed three times on Sunday but a huge 45-foot putt won the 12th hole for him and he won with birdies on 14 and 16 to put Donald away. Poulter will move up into the Top 15 of the world rankings thanks to the win. Poulter definitely knows how to win match play events as he won the Accenture match play tournament last year. Donald won that event this year vs. the odds at SBG and nearly pulled off the double but he was simply too inconsistent on Sunday to get the win over Poulter.
